e2v scientific instruments specialises in the design and manufacture of high performance solid state X-ray detectors and pulse processors for use in both industry and research. Apart from a significant range of products supplied to electron beam and X-ray induced fluorescence equipment manufacturers and users, e2v Scientific Instruments also has technology which allows us to produce specialised detectors for many different forms of EDS based research applications.

Applications
Research Detectors

As an independent specialist x-ray detector company, e2v scientific instruments is able to offer custom designed detectors and pulse processors to meet the demanding requirements of experimental applications using particle accelerators, synchrotrons, lasers or other excitation techniques. Through many years of experience and in-house research, e2v scientific instruments is able to offer application specific detector design features to optimise performance for a wide range of ED research applications, including: XRF and µXRF, TXRF, PIXE, EXAFS, XANES etc.

beam ion trap (EBIT)

For example, certain applications may require optimum resolution and peak-to-background ratios with very low trace element spectral impurities. Some require a high solid angle of detection. Others may be more interested in good spectral stability and line shape parameters at high count rates, often in the presence of higher energy x-rays.
Multi-element Si(Li) detectors. e2v scientific instruments has produced several special purpose detectors with up to 13 separate elements in a single cryostat [more details].
